The tombstone of the wild wild west legendary “Billy the Kid” has been vandalized in New Mexico museum, according to reports of several international news sites on Monday, July 2, 2012.

Reports says that group of unknown criminals broke into old Fort Sumner Museum at around 3:40am on Saturday, June 16 and tipped over and damaged the more than 2,000 lbs. Tombstone of legendary “Billy the Kid.”

The modern bandits are still at large and also find out that they also stole relics from the museum, a three antique rifles and a shotgun, as stated by the De Baca county authorities on KOB-TV.

Reports added that not only the Tombstone of Billy the Kid was vandalized there are also other graves in the museum are also smashed by the thieves.

Authorities offer $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the modern bandits and for the safe return of the stolen relics.
