The star of movie “Captain Phillips” Tom Hanks is now fighting the Type 2 Diabetes. “Out here survival is everything,” like his latest movie tagline, Hanks is now watching his weight and going to be more cautious about his diet specially in sweet foods.

The two time Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks recently played as Captain Richard Phillips in a movie based on a true story, Captain Phillips. The story about the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years.

In real-life Tom Hanks is now fighting the Type 2 diabetes, as he reveals in “The Late Show with David Letterman” last Monday night, October 7. Forrest Gump actor told the show that he has been diagnosed Type 2 diabetes.

Tom Hanks statement:

“I went to the doctor, and he said, ‘You know those high blood sugar numbers you’ve been dealing with since you were 36? Well, you’ve graduated! You’ve got Type 2 diabetes, young man’ “.

Hanks also mentioned that his condition was controllable.

Meanwhile the movie “Captain Phillips” got a 7.6 IMDb rating and coming in theaters on October 23, directed by Paul Greengrass and released under Columbia pictures.
