Best Buy is closing down 50 US stores and will be effective in fiscal 2013. Best Buy closings of stores will help the retailer’s to increase consumer electronics marketplace, the news came Thursday, March 29, 2012 from several international news sites.
Reports said that Best Buy closings stores and cutting jobs are long overdue restructuring plans. More or less affected employees of Best Buy cutting jobs will be 400 individuals in the corporate and support areas but Best Buy is working on to be as minimal as possible.
The MSNBC reports that Best Buy spokesperson Sue Busch Nehring said, the company has not yet disclosed the locations of the 50 stores it plans to shutter, adding that the retailer will announce the specific store locations and timing for closings “once they are finalized.”
“We are quite deliberate and thoughtful when we make such decisions,” she said in an e-mail message. “We are working to ensure the impact to our employees will be as minimal as possible, while serving all customers in a convenient and satisfying way.”
